Ka Pao brings its South East Asian flavours to St James Quarter

The Glasgow-based restaurant will be bringing over South East Asian inspired dishes and aromatic cocktails to its second location in St James Quarter.


St James Quarter has announced the signing of acclaimed Glasgow restaurant Ka Pao to infuse some South East Asian flavour to an already exciting and varied feast of Scottish and international food and beverage options as St James Quarter prepares to open its first phase from 24th June 2021.

Together with the recent announcement that The Gannet and Erpingham House will be joining Bonnie & Wild’s Scottish Marketplace within St James Quarter, the addition of Ka Pao, from the team behind Ox and Finch, will help further diversify St James Quarter’s upscale dining offer.


The new opening will be Ka Pao’s second venue, with their first being based in the heart of Glasgow’s West End. The menu includes a variety of South East Asian inspired dishes including roast pork belly, whole grilled mackerel and vegan corn ribs, alongside a selection of cocktails. While the menu for the Edinburgh restaurant has yet to be publicly revealed, potential diners should be prepared for a top-notch dining experience.

"The name Ka Pao is a play on the Thai word for holy basil, the menu is influenced by the cooking of South East Asia. I’ve spent a lot of time travelling and working in that part of the world and have always had a fascination with the food. It’s a passion shared with Daniel and Sandy, our senior chefs, who have also spent time working in Thailand and travelling throughout the region."

This latest signing at St James Quarter, set to open the first phase of its retail, dining and leisure elements later this year, underscores the Scottish capital’s global appeal and further bolsters the St James Quarter leisure offer. Following the signings of Tortilla, Black Sheep, Bross Bagels, Salerno Pizza, Kurt Geiger, Peloton, Bonnie & Wild and SUSHISAMBA, now Ka Pao will join the integrated line-up alongside further fashion brands including Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein.
