Musselburgh seafood restaurant is ‘catch of the day’ for Lothian mums

One of East Lothian’s most popular family seafood restaurants and fish & chip shops is reopening its takeaway service in time for Mother’s Day this weekend (12th-14th March).

Carlo and Katia Crolla from East Coast on North High Street will be serving up their special Mother’s Day takeaway menu, including their famous award-winning fish and chips, homemade cheesecake and prosecco.

Classics include North Atlantic haddock and cod, twice cooked chips, and Stornoway black pudding fritters made fresh to order. The haddock and cod are supplied to East Coast by the premier seafood family, JK Thompson, who are also located in Musselburgh. A kids menu and gluten free options are also available.

Just a short walk from Fisherrow Harbour and Musselburgh beach, East Coast is the ideal foodie venue for families to enjoy award-winning Scottish fish and seafood in the fresh sea air.

East Coast is the next chapter for the Crolla family, who have been serving the honest folk of Musselburgh from its venue on North High Street since 1974. Styles may change, but great flavours, family heritage and warm, friendly service remain as important to Katia and Carlo today as they did 47 years ago.

Carlo Crolla from East Coast, said: “After two months in lockdown, we can’t wait to get our takeaway back open in time for Mother’s Day and continue to serve our loyal customers in Musselburgh and around the Lothians.

“We know that people have been missing our multi award-winning fish chips, so Mother’s Day feels the right time for our family to help bring other families together to celebrate with homemade food they love and trust.”

Due to social distancing and other operating restrictions, East Coast’s ‘Click & Collect’ takeaway will offer a reduced menu but continue to serve the local community every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4pm to 8pm until further notice. Initially, the service will be ‘Click & Collect’ only with limited spaces for each time slot.

East Coast is also home to a popular Seafood & Grill restaurant, which is due to reopen in the summer as soon as lockdown restrictions have been lifted.
